The Boston Red Sox are showing interest in slugger Teoscar Hernández, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
Boston already has seven outfielders on its 40-man roster, but none possess the same kind of power as Hernández, who hit 26 home runs for the Seattle Mariners last season and has 159 career round-trippers on his resume.
The 31-year-old free agent could play right field for the Red Sox - who currently project to start youngster Wilyer Abreu at the spot - while also spending time at designated hitter.
Hernández is a free agent for the first time. He began his career with the Houston Astros before becoming a fixture with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2017-22.
The Red Sox added outfielder Tyler O'Neill via a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals in early December.
