The Cleveland Guardians will make history at the 2024 MLB Draft.
Cleveland will have the top pick for the first time in franchise history. The team won the draft lottery Tuesday despite 2% odds.
Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Reds jumped up to get the No. 2 pick after entering the lottery with less than a 1% chance to get the top selection.
The Washington Nationals actually won the first selection, according to J.J. Cooper of Baseball America. However, the collective bargaining agreement doesn't permit a revenue-sharing payee to possess lottery picks in back-to-back years, and the Nats drafted Dylan Crews with the No. 2 pick in 2023.
