Royals add Hampson on 1-year deal reportedly worth $2M

The Kanas City Royals signed utility man Garrett Hampson to a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

The deal is worth $2 million, sources told Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Hampson slashed .276/.349/.380 with three homers, 23 RBIs, and five stolen bases over 98 games with the Miami Marlins in 2023.

The 29-year-old played 53 contests in the outfield. He also manned shortstop, second base, and third base for the Marlins.

Hampson logged five seasons with the Colorado Rockies to start his career. He went deep a career-high 11 times with 17 steals across 147 games in 2021.
