Houston Astros right-handed reliever Bryan Abreu is appealing his two-game suspension for intentionally hitting Texas Rangers slugger Adolis García in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series.
Bryan Abreu has officially appealed his suspension. The suspension is held in abeyance during the appeal process, so Abreu is available to pitch for the Astros in Game 6 tonight. The appeal hearing would take place tomorrow, so his availability for a potential Game 7 is in doubt

Abreu will be eligible to pitch in the ALCS until the appeal is heard and the suspension is upheld or reduced.
The hurler was suspended two games Saturday after MLB senior vice president of on-field operations Michael Hill said all six Game 5 umpires agreed he intentionally threw at García, which caused both teams' benches to clear.

Abreu has been one of the Astros' top relievers this season, authoring a 1.75 ERA with 100 strikeouts in 72 regular-season innings.
He's maintained the same kind of success in the postseason, logging a 1.42 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 6 1/3 frames.
