Rays' Lowe out 4-6 weeks with knee fracture; Adam on IL with oblique strain
Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe will be out four-to-six weeks with a fractured patella bone in his right knee, manager Kevin Cash said Friday, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
Lowe left Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Angels after fouling a ball off his knee.
The 2019 All-Star hit 21 homers with 68 RBIs and a .771 OPS over 109 contests this season.
The Rays placed Lowe on the 10-day injured list Saturday. They selected outfielder Raimel Tapia from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Meanwhile, Tampa Bay placed reliever Jason Adam on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain. The Rays recalled right-hander Chris Devenski in a corresponding roster move.
Adam just returned from a three-week stint on the IL because of a left oblique strain. He owns a 2.98 ERA with 1.01 WHIP and 69 strikeouts over 54 1/3 innings in 2023.
In addition, outfielder Randy Arozarena exited Friday's game with right quad tightness, according to Topkin. Cash said the All-Star is considered day-to-day.
