Report: Yankees' Bader, Mets' Carrasco among 4 players placed on waivers
Multiple players across the majors were placed on waivers by their teams Tuesday.
New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader, New York Mets right-hander Carlos Carrasco, Chicago White Sox starter Mike Clevinger, and Detroit Tigers reliever José Cisnero have all been made available on outright waivers, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Bader and Carrasco were put on irrevocable waivers, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. It's unclear what kind of waivers Clevinger and Cisnero have been placed on.
Those four join a quintet of Los Angeles Angels players who were reportedly put on outright waivers earlier Tuesday.
Opposing teams have until Thursday to claim players who landed on the waiver wire Tuesday, according to Chris McCosky of the Detroit News. The team with the worst record that submits a claim on a player will be awarded that player's rights; the order will be determined in reverse order of the league standings as of Thursday morning, per Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Priority claim order based on the waived players' current league no longer exists.
To clarify: Teams on fringes of wild-card races likely to be aggressive claimers, not most aggressive. Contenders in stronger positions will lodge claims, too, but those with lesser records will have priority.

Despite being on waivers, Bader still started in center field for the Yankees on Tuesday against the Tigers. Cisnero also went through his normal pregame routine for Detroit, and manager A.J. Hinch didn't mention the reliever being on waivers in his pregame media availability, according to McCosky.
All four of the newly waived players are pending free agents, which potentially gives claiming teams a leg up toward re-signing them this winter. If they go unclaimed, they'll remain with their current teams.
The Yankees originally acquired Bader from the St. Louis Cardinals for pitcher Jordan Montgomery prior to last year's trade deadline. The Bronx native has played in only 96 games for his hometown team because of injuries, hitting .239/.274/.358 with seven homers and 46 RBIs over that span while tallying six defensive runs saved in center field.
The 29-year-old found out about the transaction in a bizarre way.
"I was in the lunch room and saw it on ESPN," Bader told YES Network's Meredith Marakovits.
Carrasco, also a pending free agent, is earning $14 million this season. The 36-year-old has had a difficult season for the Mets, posting a 6.80 ERA and 1.70 WHIP with 66 strikeouts and 38 walks over 20 starts. New York originally acquired him from Cleveland as part of the blockbuster that also brought Francisco Lindor to Queens.
Clevinger, 32, owns a 3.32 ERA and 1.23 WHIP while striking out 7.8 batters per nine innings across 18 starts for the White Sox this season. His one-year, $12-million contract includes a $12-million mutual option for 2024 that can alternatively be bought out for $4 million.
Cisnero, now in his seventh big-league season, owns a 5.36 ERA, 4.38 FIP, and 1.50 WHIP with 56 strikeouts, 20 walks, and two saves across 54 relief appearances for Detroit. The 34-year-old has taken a step back this year but posted a cumulative 2.94 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with a 9.2 K/9 rate over his three previous campaigns.
