The Tampa Bay Rays are discussing a trade with the Chicago White Sox for veteran right-hander Lance Lynn, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Tampa Bay is one of 10 teams on Lynn's no-trade list, but he informed the White Sox he'll waive it to join the team, reports USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are also involved in trade discussions with the White Sox about Lynn, sources told MLB Network's Jon Morosi. Lynn is also willing to waive his no-trade clause in a deal with the Dodgers, Morosi adds.

Lynn owns an inflated 6.19 ERA and 5.28 FIP with a league-leading 28 home runs allowed, but his 10.9 K/9 is a career high. The 36-year-old has struck out 10 or more hitters in a game four times this season, including 16 on June 18 against the Seattle Mariners.

The Rays are in desperate need of starting pitching due to injuries. Drew Rasmussen, Jeffrey Springs, Shane Baz, and Josh Fleming are all on the injured list. Rookie Taj Bradley is also on an innings limit and has already thrown 87 1/3 combined innings in the majors and minors.

Like the Rays, the Dodgers need starting pitching help. Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, Dustin May, Ryan Pepiot, and Noah Syndergaard are injured, while Julio Urias has struggled to a career-worst 4.98 ERA.

Tampa Bay sat atop the American League East division for most of the season but recently dropped into second place behind the Baltimore Orioles thanks to a 5-14 record in July.

The Dodgers are attempting to hold off the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants in the NL West. Los Angeles enters Wednesday four games ahead of each of their division foes.

The White Sox are expected to trade a number of players ahead of the deadline in a disappointing campaign. Chicago sits 20 games below .500 and 12.5 games out of first place in the AL Central.
