New York Mets right-hander David Robertson is not enthused by the idea of possibly getting traded before the Aug. 1 deadline.
"I’m not excited about it," Robertson told Newsday's Tim Healey. "I like it here. I'm not excited about it. It's just what happens."
He added: "If it happens, it happens. I'll pack up everything and figure out where to go and figure out which hotel we're going to live in and all that crap. Cars getting shipped. It's just a mess. It's a mess for a family."
The 38-year-old has been one of the standouts during a disappointing campaign for the Mets, authoring a 2.08 ERA and 10.0 K/9 with 14 saves while filling in at closer for the injured Edwin Diaz.
The veteran's impressive numbers, combined with the Mets' poor showing, has made him a top trade target for teams in need of bullpen help for baseball's stretch run towards the postseason.
New York enters Tuesday 18.5 games back of the Atlanta Braves for first place in the National League East and seven games back of the final wild-card spot.
"If they move me, it's because the organization sees a need to, to make them better. If they do, I’m going to end up on a team that really wants to have me," Robertson said.
The pending free agent is owed the remainder of his salary for the 2023 season, which is about $3.9 million.
