If it were up to Kenley Jansen, the Boston Red Sox wouldn't be sellers at the upcoming trade deadline.
"I think we've got a great team," the veteran closer said, according to New York Post's Jon Heyman. "I think if we keep playing good baseball, I don't think it's going to be a sale."
The Red Sox are perilously in the basement of the AL East but still boast a winning record at 48-43 and are only two games back of the final wild-card spot. They also entered the All-Star break on a five-game winning streak and are 8-1 in their last nine contests.
Jansen is in the first season of a two-year, $32-million contract with Boston and has posted a 3.23 ERA and 3.05 FIP over 32 appearances, notching 19 saves and earning an All-Star spot. If made available at the deadline, the 35-year-old would be one of the better closers on the market.
