New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole has been named the starting pitcher for the American League, while Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen will toe the rubber for the National League to start Tuesday's All-Star Game, MLB announced Monday.

Cole has never started a Midsummer Classic in his career. The 32-year-old will also be the first Yankees hurler to start the contest since Roger Clemens in 2001, which also took place in Seattle.

The six-time All-Star posted a 2.85 ERA with 1.12 WHIP and 123 strikeouts (19 starts) in the first half of the 2023 campaign.

Meanwhile, Gallen will be starting in his first All-Star appearance. The 27-year-old has accrued a 3.04 ERA with an NL-leading 1.05 WHIP and 125 strikeouts over 118 1/3 innings (19 starts) this season.
