Anthony Volpe isn't going anywhere.
New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner said Tuesday that he's had "zero conversations" about sending the slumping Volpe to Triple-A, according to Chris Kirschner of The Athletic.
Steinbrenner also reaffirmed the former top prospect is the club's starting shortstop, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. He added that he told Volpe at the end of spring training that he wouldn't be in the majors for a three-week audition.
The Yankees are choosing to be patient with Volpe despite his struggles. The 22-year-old rookie is hitting .122/.175/.257 with 28 strikeouts and just four walks over his last 24 games. Overall, he's hit nine homers with 14 stolen bases and a .605 OPS over 67 contests this season.
Volpe only logged 22 games in Triple-A last year after spending the majority of his minor-league campaign in Double-A.
