Braves' Soroka to start vs. A's after nearly 3-year absence
Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker announced right-hander Mike Soroka will start Monday against the Oakland Athletics, according to MLB.com's Mark Bowman.
This will mark Soroka's first appearance since August 2020. He missed nearly three years with multiple injuries, including an Achilles tear.
It's been 1,028 days since we've seen Michael Soroka in a Big League game. That streak ends tomorrow as he gets the nod in the series opener in Oakland. #Braves

"To go through everything he's been through and now get back is really a feather in that kid's cap," Snitker said, according to MLB Network's Kevin McAlpin. "This guy was upbeat and driven to get back out there. It's going to be exciting to get him out there tomorrow."
Soroka was an All-Star and finished sixth in National League Cy Young voting during his 2019 rookie campaign, going 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA.
