Philadelphia Phillies star shortstop Trea Turner understands why fans at Citizens Bank Park have started to boo him.

"I'm honest with myself - I've sucked," Turner said after Monday's loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks dropped the Phillies to 22-25, according to ESPN.

Turner, who joined Philadelphia on an 11-year, $300-million contract during the offseason, is slashing .256/.303/.390 with four home runs, 11 RBIs, and six stolen bases over 46 games in what he calls "probably" the worst slump of his nine-year career.

"Every at-bat, every play, every game is another day to try to do better and try to be the player that I know I am," the two-time All-Star said. "If you harp on yesterday or you harp on the last at-bat, it's just going to snowball on you; you're not going to be able to turn it around.

"So I'm honest with myself. I tell myself straight, and I don't lie to myself. I think I'm a positive guy. I think I can always do better and can always be better. That's the attitude I have. But at the same time, I know when I don't do something right."

Turner went deep five times with 11 RBIs over six contests at the World Baseball Classic to help the United States earn a silver medal.

The 29-year-old also owns a career .299/.352/.482 slash line with 128 round-trippers and 236 stolen bases.
