The New York Mets signed veteran catcher Gary Sanchez to a minor-league contract, the club announced Tuesday.
Sanchez gets $1.5 million if he plays for the Mets, with an additional $1.2 million available in incentives, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The former two-time All-Star will report to Triple-A, according to Andy Martino of SNY.
Mets general manager Billy Eppler was with the New York Yankees when Sanchez was in the team's minor-league system.
Sanchez was released by the San Francisco Giants at the beginning of May after inking a minors deal. He last played in the majors in 2022, going deep 16 times with 61 RBIs and a .659 OPS over 128 games for the Minnesota Twins.
The 30-year-old owns a .225/.311/.457 slash line with 154 homers and 401 RBIs over eight seasons with the Yankees and Twins.
