Los Angeles Angels rookie catcher Logan O'Hoppe was forced to exit in the ninth inning of Thursday's game against the New York Yankees after suffering a left shoulder injury during a swing.
The Angels placed O'Hoppe on the 10-day injured list Friday with left shoulder inflammation. Catcher Chad Wallach was selected from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.
"I felt it pop, come out the back, and will be evaluated the next couple days," O'Hoppe said, according to The Associated Press. "Let's hope it's nothing too serious."
O'Hoppe was visibly in pain. He fell over in the batter's box but eventually got up and reached first base for a single. O'Hoppe was replaced by Matt Thaiss as a pinch-runner.

Upon reaching first base, O'Hoppe slammed his helmet on the ground and received attention from the training and coaching staff.
Following the game, which ended shortly afterward with a 9-3 Angels loss, O'Hoppe stated that he doesn't know the severity of the injury and that he'll continue to be evaluated over the next few days, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.
O'Hoppe suffered a similar shoulder ailment on an awkward swing against the Boston Red Sox on Monday. However, he was able to stay in the game and has appeared in every contest since.
The 23-year-old is off to a hot start to his debut campaign, hitting .283/.339/.547 with four homers and 13 RBIs through Thursday's game.
In addition to summoning Wallach, Los Angeles also selected right-hander Austin Warren from Salt Lake ahead of Friday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Pitcher Jimmy Herget was optioned to Triple-A, while righty Justin Garza was designated for assignment.
