The Atlanta Braves have locked up another piece for the long haul, signing infielder Orlando Arcia to a three-year extension, the team announced.

The deal, which also includes a club option for 2026, is worth $7.3 million, sources told Robert Murray of FanSided. Arcia's option will pay him $2-million if exercised or can be bought out for $1 million, ESPN's Buster Olney reports. He'll earn a base salary of $2.3 million in 2023, and then $2-million in 2024 and '25, per Murray.

The new contract replaces the end of a two-year deal he had signed with Atlanta before last season.

The 28-year-old has been a backup in Atlanta for most of the last two years. However, he earned the Opening Day shortstop job over Vaughn Grissom thanks to a solid performance this spring. Arcia will continue to provide the Braves with versatility beyond shortstop having also played second base, third base, and left field during his tenure with the club.

Arcia is a lifetime .243/.295/.369 hitter with 53 home runs, 223 RBIs, and 40 stolen bases across parts of seven big-league seasons with the Braves and Milwaukee Brewers. He posted a .733 OPS in 67 games for Atlanta last year and filled in as the team's primary second baseman while Ozzie Albies was injured.
