There's a $2.5-million buyout on the club option, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The signing bonus is also $4 million, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Gimenez finished sixth in AL MVP voting in 2022 following a breakout campaign. The 24-year-old slashed .297/.371/.466 with 17 homers, 69 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases for the AL Central champions. He also won his first Gold Glove and posted a stellar 6.1 fWAR.
The Guardians acquired Gimenez in the Francisco Lindor-Carlos Carrasco trade with the New York Mets in January 2021.
Cleveland has also had advanced contract talks with Amed Rosario, Triston McKenzie, Steven Kwan, and Trevor Stephan, sources told Zack Meisel of The Athletic. The team inked Stephan to a four-year extension on Thursday.
