Report: Tigers sign Cesar Hernandez to minors deal

The Detroit Tigers and second baseman Cesar Hernandez agreed to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training, a source told Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press.
Hernandez will reportedly earn $1.5 million along with incentives if he makes the Opening Day roster.
The 32-year-old is coming off one of the worst seasons of his career, hitting one homer with 34 RBIs and a .629 OPS over 147 games for the Washington Nationals. However, Hernandez went deep 21 times in 2021 and owns a .267/.341/.375 slash line over a 10-year run in the majors.
The 2020 Gold Glover has also suited up for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Guardians, and Chicago White Sox.
