Johnny Cueto's market is beginning to take shape.
The San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins, and Cincinnati Reds are all interested in signing the veteran right-hander, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Cueto would be a welcome addition for all three clubs, who are searching for depth at the back of their rotations ahead of spring training.
San Diego would offer the 36-year-old the chance to pitch for a contender again and potentially win the second World Series of his career. Cueto would also allow the Padres to move Nick Martinez to the bullpen full-time, where he was far more effective last year.
The Marlins' young rotation would no doubt benefit from Cueto's presence. It would also give Miami even more latitude to trade one of its wealth of starters for some much-needed offense.
Cincinnati, meanwhile, would represent a homecoming for Cueto, who spent his first eight seasons with the Reds and helped pitch them to three playoff appearances.
Cueto spent last season with the Chicago White Sox, where he was surprisingly effective after starting his year in Triple-A. He posted a 3.35 ERA and 3.79 FIP over 158 1/3 innings for the South Siders, making for his best individual campaign since 2016.
The two-time All-Star owns a lifetime 3.44 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 1,812 strikeouts across 15 seasons with four teams and won a championship with the Kansas City Royals in 2015.
The Toronto Blue Jays have also been connected to Cueto this offseason.
