The Pittsburgh Pirates and catcher Austin Hedges agreed to a one-year, $5-million contract, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Hedges hit seven homers with 30 RBIs and a .489 OPS over 105 games for the Cleveland Guardians last season.
However, he accrued a 9.6 defensive rating in 2022, according to FanGraphs.
The 30-year-old has also played with the San Diego Padres over his eight-year career. His best offensive season came in 2018 when he hit 14 homers with a .711 OPS over 91 contests with the Padres.
