The Toronto Blue Jays have shown recent interest in signing right-hander Johnny Cueto, sources told Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.

Cueto, a two-time All-Star, posted a 3.35 ERA with 1.22 WHIP over 158 1/3 innings (24 starts) for the Chicago White Sox during his age-36 campaign last season.

The potential addition of the 15-year veteran would bolster the back of a Blue Jays rotation that currently projects to have Yusei Kikuchi and Mitch White competing for the No. 5 spot during spring training. Kikuchi authored a 5.19 ERA in 2022, while White amassed a 5.45 ERA.

Toronto has already reportedly added Chris Bassitt this offseason to a group of starters led by Alek Manoah, Kevin Gausman, and Jose Berrios.

The Cincinnati Reds are also interested in reuniting with Cueto, a source told MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
