The Colorado Rockies added some depth to their bullpen by signing right-handed reliever Pierce Johnson, the team announced Tuesday.
It's a one-year, $5-million deal with an additional $750,000 in performance bonuses, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.
Johnson, 31, spent the past three seasons with the San Diego Padres. He authored a 3.39 ERA and 12.1 K/9 in 102 outings, walking 44 in 93 innings.
Prior to 2020, the Denver native spent time with the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants and pitched a season in Japan.
Johnson joins a Rockies relief corps that also includes closer Daniel Bard, Dinelson Lamet, and new addition Brent Suter, among others.
Colorado's bullpen finished last season with an NL-worst 4.85 ERA.
