The Minnesota Twins have found their catcher.
Minnesota agreed to a deal with free agent Christian Vazquez, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Vazquez will sign a three-year, $30-million contract, a source told Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
The 32-year-old hit .274/.315/.399 with nine homers and 52 RBIs across 119 games last year with the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros. Vazquez helped Houston win the World Series after joining the team at the trade deadline. He came up with a key RBI hit in the championship-clinching Game 6.
In Minnesota, he'll presumably take over as the Twins' starting catcher from current free agent Gary Sanchez. Vazquez can also share time behind the plate with Ryan Jeffers.
Vazquez owns a lifetime .695 OPS with 55 homers and 276 RBIs across parts of eight big-league seasons. He's a two-time World Series champion, having also earned a ring with Boston in 2018.
The Chicago Cubs were rumored to be pursuing Vazquez as well this winter.
