Free-agent outfielder Aaron Judge might have predicted his future landing spot in high school, and his guess might not be what New York Yankees fans want to hear.

"I said, in 10 years, I'll be married to (wife) Sam and playing for the San Francisco Giants," Judge told Time's Sean Gregory.

Judge added, "I was like, that'd better not get out."

The first part of his prediction, getting married to high-school sweetheart Samantha Bracksieck, came true. Meanwhile, the Giants are one of the teams showing strong interest in the 30-year-old superstar, who grew up in Linden, California, near San Francisco.

Judge and the Giants met in November, and the Bay Area franchise is considered the Yankees' toughest competition for the 2022 AL MVP.

Judge had a terrific seven-year run in New York after the Yankees drafted him in 2013. The Yankees reportedly have an eight-year offer on the table worth around $300 million but have also been left in the dark lately regarding Judge's moves.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone were unaware the outfielder would be attending the winter meetings in San Diego and have no plans to meet with him again in person, according to MLB.com's Bryan Hoch.

That doesn't mean Cashman and the Yankees haven't been working hard to re-sign the four-time All-Star, though.

"It's his dance card," Cashman said. "He's a free agent. He has a chance to make decisions for him and his family.

"I can tell you that we are negotiating hard. (Yankees managing general partner) Hal Steinbrenner has been very public. I can tell you Hal is putting his money where his mouth is, where he told his fan base he was going to make every effort to sign this player."
