Report: Yankees interested in Pirates' Reynolds after trade request
The New York Yankees are interested in Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds after the 27-year-old asked to be traded, a source told Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
A Pirates spokesperson confirmed over the weekend Reynolds had requested a trade, calling the demand "disappointing" while saying it would have "zero impact" on Pittsburgh's future decision-making.
The spokesperson didn't reveal why the one-time All-Star wanted to be traded.
The Baltimore native put together another solid campaign in 2022, hitting .262/.345/.461 with 27 home runs, 19 doubles, four triples, 62 RBIs, and seven steals for the last-place Pirates. Pittsburgh finished 62-100.
As it stands, the Yankees' outfield consists of Harrison Bader, Aaron Hicks, and Oswaldo Cabrera, although they are in the running to re-sign slugger Aaron Judge.
New York has also been connected to free-agent outfielders Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto.
