Shohei Ohtani finally received some recognition for a brilliant 2022 campaign.
The Los Angeles Angels superstar won the Edgar Martinez Outstanding Designated Hitter Award for a second straight year, MLB announced Monday.
Ohtani is the first player to collect the honor in back-to-back seasons since David Ortiz won five in a row from 2003-07.
The 28-year-old hit 34 homers with 95 RBIs and an .875 OPS over 153 games as a DH last season.
Ohtani finished as the 2022 AL MVP runner-up to Aaron Judge. He also placed fourth in Cy Young voting after authoring a 2.33 ERA with 11.9 K/9 over 166 innings (28 starts).
