Houston Astros rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena was named the Most Valuable Player of the American League Championship Series after his team defeated the New York Yankees on Sunday.

Pena went 6-for-17 with two homers and four RBIs across the four-game series, including a three-run homer in Sunday's deciding contest.
The 25-year-old's impressive playoff performance followed a solid regular season in which he hit 22 homers and recorded 15 defensive runs saved as the Astros' shortstop replacement for Carlos Correa.
Pena also hit an important homer in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Seattle Mariners.
