Bichette: There was no playoff atmosphere 2 years ago
Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette is excited to experience playoff baseball in Toronto after a quick two-game sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays during the 2020 pandemic-shortened campaign.
"There was none. I wouldn't say I've been part of the postseason yet," Bichette said when asked about the atmosphere at Tropicana Field, according to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun.
Spectators weren't permitted at the stadium because of COVID-19 restrictions.
The Rays outscored the Blue Jays 11-3 in Bichette's only two career postseason contests. The 2021 All-Star went hitless in the series with one RBI over eight plate appearances.
However, the 24-year-old can't wait to see what the fans will be like at the Rogers Centre when the Blue Jays host Game 1 of their wild-card series against the Seattle Mariners on Friday.
"It was just chills thinking about having the opportunity to play in an environment like that. It's a dream come true," Bichette said about watching Toronto's 2016 postseason run after the organization drafted him.
