The Altlanta Braves traded for second baseman Robinson Cano in a minor-league deal with the San Diego Padres, reports David O'Brien of The Athletic.
The Braves are apparently sending cash considerations to the Padres.
Atlanta is expected to add Cano to the major-league roster Monday, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.
The New York Mets are paying all but the minimum portion of Cano's $24-million salary for this season after they released him in early May, according to O'Brien.
Cano, who's a left-handed bat, slashed .149/.182/.189 with one homer in 24 games between the Mets and Padres. However, the 39-year-old eight-time All-Star has an .854 OPS in 21 contests in the minors in 2022.
