Greinke returns to Royals on reported 1-year, $13M deal

Zack Greinke reunited with the Kansas City Royals.

The right-hander agreed to a one-year, $13-million contract, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.

The six-time All-Star can reportedly earn an extra $2 million through an innings bonus.

Greinke, 38, broke into the majors with the Royals in 2004 and pitched with the club for seven years, winning the American League Cy Young Award in 2009.

The 18-year veteran suited up for the Houston Astros over the last two and a half seasons and authored a 4.16 ERA with 1.17 WHIP in 171 innings (29 starts) in 2021.

Greinke is also a six-time Gold Glover and two-time Silver Slugger from his time in the National League.
