Chicago Cubs outfielder Clint Frazier didn't tell the Yankees that he was dealing with concussion symptoms before the start of the 2021 campaign while playing for New York.
"They weren't aware, that was on me," Frazier told "The Short Porch" podcast. "I was fighting for my life … I was trying to continue to play. So I didn't tell them.
"And then I showed up to spring training and started to feel better, and then it kind of, like, came back, because I had an instance where I bumped the wall again. I went into the whole season feeling that exact way."
Frazier, who's battled concussion issues since 2018, lost his starting job with the Yankees after beginning last season on a 5-for-55 slide. The former top prospect only played in 66 games before his campaign ended in June due to vertigo.
The 27-year-old acknowledged not being able to play due to his health issues impacted him mentally.
"I needed to separate baseball and my health because, like I said, it was about quality of life at this point," Frazier said. "I was severely struggling with this stuff."
