Giants sign Cobb to 2-year deal worth reported $20M
Cobb will help replace Kevin Gausman - who's heading to the Toronto Blue Jays - in San Francisco's rotation. The Giants have been hot on Cobb's tail this winter and were said to be making a push for him in the last week leading up to Monday.
The 34-year-old pitched just 93 1/3 innings for the Los Angeles Angels in 2021 due to injuries but was very effective when on the mound. He posted a 3.76 ERA, 2.92 FIP, and 1.26 WHIP across 18 starts and allowed only five homers while posting the third-lowest HR/9 rate among starters with at least 90 innings.
For his career, Cobb owns a 3.87 ERA (105 ERA+), 1.27 WHIP, and 816 strikeouts across 174 appearances with the Angels, Baltimore Orioles, and Tampa Bay Rays.
