Dodgers sign Daniel Hudson to 1-year deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Daniel Hudson agreed to a one-year, $7-million deal.

The Dodgers attempted to trade for the 34-year-old hurler at last season's deadline, but he ended up with the San Diego Padres instead.

Hudson struggled to a 5.21 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 23 appearances for San Diego after he pitched well for the Washington Nationals (4-1, 2.20 ERA, 2.47 FIP) earlier in the year.

The veteran reliever has been up and down over the past three seasons in allowing runs, but he's maintained an impressive 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings, which ranks 20th among big-league relievers with at least 140 innings pitched since 2019, according to FanGraphs.

Hudson was also a major force out of the Nationals' bullpen during their World Series run in 2019, striking out 10 hitters over 11 2/3 innings. He was also responsible for getting the final out of the Fall Classic that season to secure a title for Washington.

This is Hudson's second stint with the Dodgers. He appeared in 40 games for them in 2018.
