The New York Yankees met with Freddie Freeman's representatives, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Freeman is the best free-agent first baseman available. The Yankees have a hole at the position with Anthony Rizzo also looking for a new contract on the open market.

In 12 seasons with the Atlanta Braves, Freeman has slashed .295/.384/.509 with 271 homers, 367 doubles, and 941 RBIs in 1,565 games. He's a five-time All-Star who owns multiple Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove to go along with a World Series title.

The 32-year-old said during the playoffs he wants to spend the rest of his career with the Braves. Atlanta's management has openly expressed a desire to bring back the 2020 NL MVP.

Meanwhile, the Yankees have also reportedly spoken to the Oakland Athletics about All-Star first baseman Matt Olson.

New York's current roster options at first include Luke Voit and DJ LeMahieu.
