Tampa Bay Rays rookie shortstop Wander Franco set an impressive record on Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles when he reached base in his 29th straight game.

With a walk in the first inning, Franco's streak became the longest by an American League player 20 years old or younger in a single season, according to MLB Stats.

The former No. 1 prospect is closing in on another record set by New York Yankees great Mickey Mantle.

Franco has been impressive since debuting for the Rays on June 22. He owns a .270/.330/.446 slash line with six homers and 29 RBIs in 51 games. Twenty-one of Franco's 55 hits have been of the extra-base variety.
