The New York Mets have placed general manager Zack Scott on administrative leave effective immediately until further notice, the team announced Thursday.
Team president Sandy Alderson will assume GM responsibilities.
Scott is facing driving while intoxicated charges stemming from a Tuesday arrest when he was found asleep in a 2018 Toyota in White Plains, New York.
The 44-year-old executive appeared in court on Thursday and pled not guilty, according to Newsday's Ryan Gerbosi.
"(Scott) failed a field sobriety (test)," White Plains police captain James Spencer said on Wednesday, according to Gerbosi.
"We were surprised and deeply disappointed to learn this morning about an alleged DUI involving Zack Scott," the Mets said in a statement Wednesday.
The team hired Scott as the acting general manager earlier this year after Jared Porter was relieved of his duties following an investigation into the executive sending explicit messages to a female journalist.
