Cole Hamels' career in Hollywood is over before it started.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed the left-hander on the 60-day injured list, ending his season before he appeared in a major-league game, the team announced Monday.

Hamels, who signed with the Dodgers on Aug. 4, was looking to build up arm strength before joining the club.

The 37-year-old was supposed to throw a two-inning simulated game but was pulled after one, according to Juan Toribio of MLB.com.

Hamels has thrown a total of 3 1/3 innings since the beginning of the 2020 season. He will be a free agent again this winter.

Los Angeles selected the contract of reliever Neftali Feliz and recalled right-hander Andre Jackson in addition to optioning lefty Darien Nunez and righty Edwin Uceta to Triple-A in corresponding moves.
