The San Francisco Giants are one of the main clubs in the running to trade for Miami Marlins outfielder Starling Marte, sources told Craig Mish and Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald.

San Francisco, which leads the NL West, is in need of a center fielder and has the farm system to get a deal done, Mish and McPherson note.

Miami reportedly offered Marte a contract extension in the realm of $40 million over three years, but the two sides weren't able to reach an agreement.

The New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and Philadelphia Phillies are also reportedly interested in the outfielder.

Marte's hit seven home runs to go with 19 stolen bases and an .840 OPS over 56 games this season. He's also a two-time Gold Glove winner.
