Baseball's best pitcher may not make an appearance in the All-Star Game.

New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom is leaning toward sitting out the contest after being named to the National League squad on Sunday.

"I'm supposed to throw Sunday. For me, I don't think it's smart to go pitch in the All-Star Game," he said. "I've been a little beat up this first half and obviously missed a few starts that I wish I wouldn't have missed, so I don't think it makes sense for me to throw in it."

The Mets ace leads MLB in ERA (0.95), FIP (0.99), strikeouts per nine innings (14.4), and fWAR (4.8). However, he's battled a multitude of injuries throughout the 2021 campaign, including side, elbow, and shoulder issues.
