Mets, Bobby Bonilla team up for overnight fan experience

July 1 marks "Bobby Bonilla Day" - the date on which the former All-Star and Silver Slugger annually collects installments of his deferred salary. And, under new ownership, the New York Mets seem to be embracing the unofficial holiday.

The Mets are now offering a fan experience featuring an overnight stay at Citi Field, hosted by Bonilla himself. Fans will be able to watch the Mets' games against the Atlanta Braves on July 28 and 29 from a private suite, throw out a ceremonial first pitch, and receive a signed ball from Bonilla.

The suite is booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. The one-night stay costs $250.

Bonilla, 58, is owed roughly $1 million in deferred salary every year through 2035. The slugger played five seasons with the Mets, hitting .270/.356/.495 with 95 homers over 515 games.
