Judge not interested in HR Derby until it returns to New York
"I haven't even thought of it, to be honest," Judge said Friday, according to Newsday's Laura Albanese. "I've got no interest right now unless the All-Star Game is back in New York soon."
Judge last participated in 2017, winning after hitting 47 home runs over three rounds. He later admitted the event caused some strain on his shoulder, which he had injured a few weeks earlier.
New York hasn't hosted a Home Run Derby since 2013 when the event took place at Citi Field. Yankee Stadium was the site of the slugfest in 2008.
Los Angeles Angels phenom Shohei Ohtani was the first player to commit to the 2021 event. Other sluggers such as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays and Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros are showing interest.
