Yankees trade Mike Ford to Rays

The New York Yankees traded first baseman Mike Ford to the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations and a player to be named later, the Rays announced Thursday.
Ford was designated for assignment Saturday after struggling in 2021. He slashed .133/.278/.283 with three home runs in 22 games for New York.
The 28-year-old enjoyed his best season during his rookie campaign in 2019, going deep 12 times while posting a .909 OPS over 50 games.
The Rays transferred right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day injured list to make room for Ford on the active roster.
