San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. was removed from Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs for precautionary reasons with right oblique tightness, the club announced.
Ha-Seong Kim replaced Tatis in the field after he flied out in the top of the sixth.
"Strength is pretty good postgame, range of motion pretty good, so we'll kinda go day-to-day," Padres manager Jayce Tingler said after the contest, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.
Tatis has only played in 39 games this season due to multiple stints on the injured list. However, he entered the game slashing .299/.383/.708 with 16 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases over 162 plate appearances.
The Padres have one of the best records in baseball and Tatis is considered an NL MVP candidate.
