Report: A's officials to visit Nevada to explore Las Vegas relocation
Oakland Athletics team officials will visit Southern Nevada next week to explore the idea of relocating the franchise to Las Vegas, sources told Ron Kantowski of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
A group, including A's president Dave Kaval, plans to meet with local government officials to determine if Las Vegas is a fit, according to Kantowski's sources.
Las Vegas was among a list of potential future options for the A's after the organization was instructed by Major League Baseball to begin exploring relocation last week.
Charlotte, Nashville, Portland, Montreal, and Vancouver have also previously been mentioned as relocation sites by baseball commissioner Rob Manfred.
The A's have been pursuing the construction of a new ballpark in downtown Oakland with the Coliseum no longer a viable option for future play, but the stadium project has been in limbo for years.
