The New York Yankees placed shortstop Gleyber Torres on the injured list after he tested positive for COVID-19, the team announced Thursday.

Torres, who sat out Wednesday's game for precautionary reasons, is the eighth member of the Yankees to test positive this week, along with seven coaches and staff members. However, all the individuals were fully vaccinated.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the two-time All-Star is asymptomatic, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Boone added that all eight individuals are now asymptomatic after one person had symptoms, per Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.

The skipper also said they used the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

New York recalled Miguel Andujar to take Torres' spot on the active major-league roster.
