Acuna day-to-day with finger contusion after being hit with 97-mph pitch
Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. appears to have avoided serious injury after a 97-mph pitch from Philadelphia Phillies reliever Sam Coonrod hit him in the hand Saturday.
The Braves announced X-rays on Acuna's hand were negative. He was diagnosed with a left pinky finger contusion and is listed as day-to-day.
"He has a little Band-Aid on his pinky," Braves manager Brian Snitker said after the team's extra-inning win, according to Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan. "We dodged a bullet."
Coonrod's second consecutive inside pitch during Acuna's seventh-inning at-bat hit him. He slammed his helmet to the ground and was in obvious pain while clutching his hand, then went straight to the clubhouse with Atlanta's trainer.

The 23-year-old is hitting .313/.409/.652 with 10 home runs, 18 extra-base hits, 22 RBIs, and five stolen bases this season. Acuna's tied for the major-league lead in homers, and he leads the NL in slugging percentage and runs scored.
