Umpire Angel Hernandez was at the center of controversy once again Wednesday night during the game between the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians.

After calling a balk on Royals starter Brady Singer, the right-hander took issue with the umpire's ruling as he was later leaving the game. Things got heated between the two, and Hernandez ultimately ejected Singer.

Kansas City's second baseman Whit Merrifield had to restrain the fiery pitcher as he yelled at the umpire while leaving. Singer joined manager Mike Matheny and pitching coach Cal Eldred, who were ejected after arguing the balk earlier in the inning.

However, Hernandez might not have been wrong with his call in this instance.

The series of altercations had been brewing throughout the inning after the umpire also gave Indians infielder Jose Ramirez first base for being hit by a pitch when it looked like the ball probably missed him. Cleveland later scored, and then things unraveled from there.

The Indians ultimately came back from a 4-0 deficit to win, 5-4.

Hernandez is no stranger to controversy on the diamond. In fact, Indians manager Terry Francona called the umpire out after he botched a call during Tuesday night's game.
