The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Christian Yelich on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain, the club announced Tuesday.
Yelich played Monday after being sidelined since April 11 with a back issue.
"I felt good enough to try it, but you don't really know until you're in a major-league game," the 2018 NL MVP said, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. "Tightness, pain, restriction, not having the same mobility. Back stuff kind of controls your entire body."
Brewers manager Craig Counsell acknowledged his star can't play consistently right now.
"Last night told us that he's not going to be able to do this on a daily basis," Counsell said. "And so, we need to stop and completely resolve this. ... At this point, we don't have an answer."
Counsell added the team will spend the next few days looking for ways to get answers about Yelich's injury.
Yelich owns a .846 OPS but hasn't hit a home run over 10 games this season.
Milwaukee recalled outfielder Tyrone Taylor to fill a spot on the active major-league roster.
