Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu left Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays with a minor right glute strain, the team announced.

The 34-year-old departed with two outs during the fourth inning after holding the Rays to no runs on three hits.

Ryu was removed from a game due to a right gluteal muscle strain in August 2014 when he pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to ESPN KBO insider Daniel Kim and Blue Jays insider Andrew Stoeten. Ryu spent 15 days on the injured list due to that ailment, notes Stoeten.

Following the Blue Jays' 1-0 win over Tampa Bay, both Ryu and manager Charlie Montoyo expressed optimism about his status. Montoyo believes the Korean southpaw "should be fine," according to The Associated Press.

"Right now I don't feel any irritation at all," Ryu said, according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi. "It shouldn't be a situation where I get put on the IL."

Ryu entered Sunday with a 3.00 ERA and 3.22 FIP in 24 innings this season.
