The Tampa Bay Rays placed right-hander Chris Archer on the 10-day injured list on Saturday after he left a start against the New York Yankees in the third inning with right lateral forearm tightness, the team announced, according to MLB.com's Adam Berry.
Archer could miss one start, manager Kevin Cash said, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
"Fortunately, it's nothing serious," Archer said of the injury, which Tampa Bay believes is tendinitis.
Archer left the field with a trainer during the third inning after allowing a one-out hit to DJ LeMahieu. He allowed three hits and struck out four before exiting.
The two-time All-Star signed a one-year, $6.5-million deal with the Rays in February to reunite with the club that traded him to the Pittsburgh Pirates at the 2018 trade deadline.
Archer missed the entire 2020 campaign following surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome.
In a corresponding move, Tampa Bay will call up right-hander Brent Honeywell to take Archer's spot on the roster.
